The Journals
Eric and Dylan's journals contain around a thousand pages of their personal drawings an writings. The entries show that the two were planning the attack over a year before April 20, 1999. Dylan's journal is nearly 100 pages, while Eric's is much longer. Both of them wrote about their hatred for school, along with their emotion including anger and depression. Eric's journal includes detailed records of their plans, a budget, their ammo, and bombs. Also in his journal he talks about his first attempts of making bombs and wanting to see people running around like lit candles. Eric logged a schedule of the number of students who were in the cafeteria at what time, in preparation of the shooting. This is because they wanted to make sure they hurt as many people as they could, in a short amount of time. In Dylan's journal, in addition to their plans, he includes a paper he submitted to his English class. This paper includes many of the details of their plans and how it could have happened.
